I can't thank Mellanee enough for everything when my Aunty/sister Ruth Mather passed away. Mellanee was so professional but so caring and honest during the whole process and was there to help with anything we needed. She was warm and friendly and I can't thank her enough β€οΈ
Legacy Funerals were wonderful to work with. From initially engaging with Fergus, who kept in touch with me while we arranged immediate travel from Australia, and took me through what to expect, to working with Mellanee who looked after our Dad and our arrangements once we arrived in NZ. The reassurance, patience and empathy were sincerely appreciated and made a very difficult time feel less daunting. The support we received from Mellanee was immeasurable. Her warmth, kindness and patience ensured we felt at ease with the process from beginning to end. Thank you Mel β€οΈ
If I could give zero stars I would, This was absolutely disappointing. Legacy refused to release a family member to my family, giving no valid reason whatsoever. The coroner approved and advised them to and they still refused. He had to spend a night alone, we had even asked if we could stay outside just to be around him and they refused, The funeral home was already waiting outside the building but was refused. They said "This case is different" and were not able to release him until 9am the next morning, but in emails sent at 5am they said that we had until 8pm to pick him up but then changed their story and said they had closed at 5pm after talking to staff, and without disclosing it with anyone even after they agreed to 8pm. My family called them and were a mess, crying, and begging if there was anything we could do but they said we had to stop calling and they would not change their mind. This is supposed to be a 24-hour service and yet they kept our family member away from us after having him already all day since 10am. They were very unprofessional and had no sympathy whatsoever. They caused our family more pain and heartbreak in this time we were already hurting.
Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Refusing to release a loved one to their whΔnau despite the coroner advising them to β giving no valid reason. The funeral home that was meant to collect him was waiting at Legacy, but they have refused to release him - making him spend a night alone without his whΔnau. They told the coroner theyβd be available until 8pm, but later changed their story and said they close at 5pm. They said that "this case is different." and that they will not release him until 9am the following day. Despite distressing phone calls from various whΔnau they have said to stop calling as they will not change their mind. What makes this worse is that they advertise 24-hour service, yet failed to provide it when it was needed most. Their lack of compassion and integrity has caused a whΔnau unnecessary pain during an already heartbreaking time.
