We are deeply grateful to the team at Pellows for their kindness and professionalism during such a difficult time for our family. A very special mention to Alvin, the Assistant Manager and Funeral Director, who took care of our baby boy all the way to the cemetery. Alvin guided us through every step with compassion and respect, keeping us updated and assisting us right until the end of the burial. His genuine care and gentle approach truly brought us comfort when we needed it most. Thank you, Alvin, and the entire team, for treating our baby and our family with such dignity and warmth. We will never forget your support.
We have had to lean on Pellows Funeral Directors twice now during the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. A year ago, when we lost our baby, Alvin took care of us with so much grace, compassion, and gentleness. He created a safe space for us to grieve and walked us through the entire process with such dignity and respect. We will always be grateful for the care he showed our precious baby and our family. Just a week ago, we found ourselves needing their support again when our mum passed away. From the very beginning, Pellows offered the same safe, gentle, and reassuring presence that we remembered. This time, we were supported by William, Dillon, and another lovely staff member whose name I unfortunately cannot recall, but her kindness will not be forgotten. Their service was exceptional. Despite mum passing away late in the afternoon, they had her embalmed and ready to come home by 10:30pm the same night. They handled her with so much love, respect, and dignity. In a time where everything felt heavy and overwhelming, they made the process simple, seamless, and comforting. Thank you, Pellows, for looking after our loved ones with such genuine care. Your compassion has meant more to our whānau than words can express. You have supported us through our darkest days, and we are deeply grateful.
We dealt with Alvin, He was absolutely amazing with our whanau. So caring, patient, understanding & informative which took the stress away from us having to organise our mums departure so we could focus on our grief. Would recommend Pellows too anyone. Thank you SO much everyone.
Had a horrific and traumatizing experience with both Pellows Funerals and the Hamilton Crematorium in 2022 when saying goodbye to my brother who died by homicide. First, they spelled my brother's name wrong on the casket (completely different person), secondly, a framed picture of my brother's artwork fell and smashed when they moved the casket to fix the name plaque which we ended up cleaning up. Thirdly, after opting to travel with the funeral director from Pellows when transporting my brother to the Hamilton Crematorium, the female funeral director tried to grift for business by asking whether my mother (who had just lost her only son) had thought about her future funeral plans while driving with my brother's casket in the back. The way we were treated as grieving family members is unforgivable. When the hearse arrived at the crematorium, I stayed in the vehicle while the director communicated with the crematorium worker. I could see them talking and laughing in the rear vision mirror and the crematorium worker leaned on the casket while putting his coffee cup on it. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The complete disrespect lack of empathy for an obviously grieving family member was shocking. It was a series of unprofessional mishaps that made an already traumatic day more upsetting. It has taken all this time to have the strength to write this and the added pain from this day is still felt strongly.
All the Pellows staff were amazing. Very sympathetic and respectful. Dillon was especially helpful, especially at Mum’s Funeral where he took charge with such gentleness and discretion. Also special thanks to Sue and Alvin for sorting out all the extra details we required to complete Mum’s earthly journey. Thank you all sincerely.
